Board members Kathy Cayton and Pam Cain represented the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum during the raising of the POW/MIA flag at the Supervisor of Elections building on February 26, 2025.
The flag was flown over the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum and will be a permanent site on the flagpole at One Imeson. Pam spoke briefly about the memorial and museum under construction in the Cecil Commerce Center area, the relevance and history of the POW/MIA flag as well as about her father, Col Oscar Mauterer, USAF, MIA over Laos on February 15, 1966, who is still missing and unaccounted for.
Pat Mulvihill, N. Rotary of Jacksonville member and staunch advocate of veterans, was master of ceremonies and thanked all who made the occasion possible. A photo of CDR Michael Hoff, USN, MIA over Laos on January 7, 1970 and Mrs. Mary Helen Hoff, inspiration for the flag, was presented for display on the Wall of Honor inside the building.
