Jim “Moe” Moyer

Moe and his wife (for over 40 years) Ginny are pleased with their retirement in the central Florida area of Lake Wales where there is always plenty of the Florida three C’s, Cane, Cattle and Citrus.

His background includes active duty service with the U.S. Coast Guard, 1967-71, stationed in Alameda Cal., Honolulu, HI. Wake Island, Governors Island, New York City, New London Conn. He spent the next 20 years in Home Building retail supply managing multiple outlets for Scotty’s Home Building Supply in Florida and Home Depot in Louisiana, Texas, and Florida.  After retirement in 1992, while in Brevard County, Florida, he was a volunteer supervisor for the Keep America Beautiful program working with troubled youth to keep Florida’s beaches looking their best and he also served on the City of Cocoa Planning & Zoning Board.

In the 1990’s he attended the RIDE FOR FREEDOM in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day Weekend, an annual demonstration for the accountability of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action. After being introduced to the POW/MIA issue he was hooked and soon joined the National organization, Rolling Thunder, Inc. in Florida and participated on the Board of Directors for Chapter 1 and Chapter 6, He, also, was appointed the State Director for Rolling Thunder Florida, Georgia and Alabama and at one point had oversight on 14 individual Rolling Thunder chapters in the southeastern United States. He resigned in 2012 to create a new Prisoner of War advocacy organization.

Moe is currently Co-Chairman of the national organization, HONOR-RELEASE-RETURN, Inc. www.honorreleasereturn.com  working for the repatriation of live  Americans Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in any form of captivity world-wide and educating the public on the Prisoner of War and Missing in Action issues. He is the chair for The Ride Home, Inc. www.theridehome.com  an annual event in observation of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, held in cooperation with the National Prisoner Of War Museum in Andersonville, Georgia. He is a member in good standing of the American Legion Polk County, Hillsborough County Veterans Council,the POW/MIA Memorial Committee for Hillsborough Veterans Memorial Park and Museum and Vietnam and All Veterans of Florida Coalition, Inc.. He was on the Board of Directors, Past Chairman, for USO Central Florida, Inc. which operates a Welcome Center at Tampa International Airport as well as a Welcome Center at Orlando International Airport.  www.usocentralflorida.org
