September 18–19, 2026 marks one of the most meaningful events of the year at the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum as we gather to honor America's Prisoners of War, those still Missing in Action, and the families who continue to carry their memory.
We invite veterans, active-duty service members, military families, civic organizations, businesses, schools, youth groups, and members of the community to join us for National POW/MIA Recognition Day 2026 – 24-Hour Remembrance Vigil & Community Tribute.
The observance begins at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 18, with our 24-Hour Remembrance Vigil, a powerful tradition in which volunteers carry the POW/MIA Flag continuously for 24 hours. Every 30-minute shift represents our nation's unwavering promise that those who never returned home will never be forgotten. The vigil continues throughout the night and concludes Saturday morning, creating a visible reminder that someone is always standing watch.
On Saturday, September 19, the memorial grounds will come alive with a full day of remembrance, patriotism, education, and community fellowship. Guests can enjoy:

- ✈️ Dreamland Squadron Flyover
- 🏍️ American Legion Riders Seven Bridges Ride arrival
- 🎶 Live entertainment
- 🚚 Food trucks and refreshments
- 🤝 Veteran and community organization exhibits

Whether you stay for an hour or spend the entire day with us, your presence helps fulfill a promise made to every American who served—that they will never be forgotten.
